In 1981, I strung a Donnay racquet for Bjorn Borg.He requested a tension of 80 pounds; I gave him 72 on the mains, and 70 on the crosses. He said he liked my strings better than his home stringer in Sweden.

I am an MRT/Master Racquet Technician; a Certified Member of the USRSA/United Racquet Stringers Association.
In 1974, the Prince tennis ball machine company, in Princeton, NJ, produced a prototype tennis racquet designed by Howard Head, the inventer of the Head metal ski. After selling his ski company, he gave tennis a try. He was quite disappointed with his performance. “I wanted a racquet with a larger sweetspot” (center of percussion). As an aeronautical engineer, he used his creativity and widened the head of the frame, and extended the strings into the handle; ‘the cheater’ was born. Two years later they marketed the Prince Classic and changed tennis forever.
I knew I had to invent a new stringing technique to give my customers better performance (I am an inventor, patent #439 0240).

I sent two Pure Drive racquets to Mr. Bookbinder for stringing and to be regriped. My review as follows:
1) Communication : The day of my enquiry Carl texted me the same day, we spoke on the phone and I explained to him what I needed done on my racquets. He explained to me in detail the process he uses. After Carl received the racquets we talked again. Every detail was discussed I knew exactly what Carl was doing with the racquets.
2) Quality : I play leagues and tournaments, after receiving the racquets, after a 30 minute “break in “ period the racquets performed great! The strings and the new grips helped me play at a higher level than ever before. The quality of Carl’s workmanship is outstanding. He measured the balance, swingweight, and measured the grips. Tell me do you know of anyone else who would do this, outside of the pro’s? I have had these racquets strung by other people and have had problems with tension and strings breaking; not with these. Tension and grip size were spot on. The entire string bed is a sweet spot. The grips he recommend are excellent, with no slippage and comfortable.
